Tale of Malifaux Bloggers Month 1 #tomb

Heyho.

So This is my Month 1 post for the tale of Malifaux Bloggers, in this series of blog posts i'll be chronicling my journey into the new filth - Ramos ;) - building up month by month until I'm conquering every tournament I go to.

Well that's the plan.

I'll be splitting my posts into two sections, Buying & Painting and Gaming, then you can read the bit that interests you (hopefully both)

Tale of Malifaux Bloggers - Part 0 - Prologue

Yo!

Well I thought i'd best do my #tomb post 0 as everyone else has, so what's #tomb you may ask, well settle down and i'll tell you a story.

Way back in the mists of time (well a couple of weeks ago) two fellows, the names of Chris King and Dave Chandler had a dream, they were wondering why there were no 'new player' resources for Malifaux, you know the sort - how to start a crew, what things you should buy etc and coupled with memories of the old GW 'Tale of X gamers' - a series of articles were 4 players started warhammer armies and slowly built them up over a period of time, with a monthly budget to expand their forces - the dream twosome decided to start something similar for Malifaux.

A Saga for the ages

Hey all, I'm bored sitting in a server room at work after getting here to find no fault to fix, so I thought I'd write up a few thoughts about another new game I started last year - Saga.

So Saga - what is it?

Saga is a 28mm Dark ages miniatures skirmish game published by Gripping Beast, it's played using 2 opposing forces consisting of between 20 and 50 models depending on game size and forces used.

There are quite a few armies available over a range of supplements and rulebooks, these supplements contain the background and battle boards for the forces - wait what's a battle board? Well I'll come to that in a bit.

State of the Union - Bolt Action

What's this?? Two posts in quick succession?? Have I gone mad? - nope, just trying to get caught up in nearly 2 years of blogging, normal service will resume shortly.

So, My new years resolution of 2013 was 'Only buy models once I've painted some, a 1 in, 2 out system' This fell rapidly by the wayside as I started not 1, but about 4-5 new systems :s These include:

  • Bolt Action
  • Saga
  • Judge Dredd
  • X-wing
  • Dropzone commander
First one I'm going to post about is the one I've played the most of, Bolt Action. So what is it?

Bolt Action is a 28mm scale 'platoon' level world war 2 game published by Warlord Games. I'd read about this game for a few months before finally jumping in with a couple of clubmates - the initial plan was to use our existing flames of war miniatures and playing it in 15mm, this quickly went out the window as we looked at the 28mm scale figures and also seeing how reasonably priced the models were.

State of the Union -- Warhammer

So, my last attempt at blogging seems to have fallen by the wayside, it's been about 21 months since my last post, so what's been going on since then?

This post and the ones following will mostly be a 'state of the union' - letting everyone know where i'm up to and things occuring in the future, hopefully i'll be updating it more often in the future, thanks to #secretstuff

Well, the previous few posts were about my Samurai Empire army and I'm happy to say i've nearly finished it :)

I've assembled and painted about 2k of them, I've still got a few things left to finish off, but as always it's been overtaken by other projects, anyway - here's some pics of things as they currently stand.
